Geochemistry Group
This is the largest and most important specialist group to represent all aspects of this subject in Britain. It is is a joint specialist group of the Mineralogical Society and the Geological Society. In addition to the conventional areas of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary geochemistry, and cosmochemistry, the group's activities encompass such interdisciplinary research areas as environmental, bio- and hydro-geochemistry.
The group also promotes exchange of knowledge on the applications and development of relevant new techniques as they arise. Thematic meetings are held each year, which are sometimes international or in collaboration with other specialist groups; an annual research meeting is also held for informal presentations, particularly from research students.
Further details about the group are available from the Group Secretary Dr Emma Tomlinson, at e.tomlinson@gl.rhul.ac.uk

Research in Progress and 'Carbon system Science'
4th March 2010
Burlington House, London
PROGRAMME NOW
AVAILABLE
There will be sessions on
planetary carbon, paleocarbon and modern carbon and keynote
speakers are Pierre Cartigny (IPG, Paris) and Paul Pearson
(Cardiff)
. We
encourage contributions from all aspects of carbon geochemistry.
The meeting is a forum for postgraduate students and
post-doctoral researchers to present and discuss new
developments and ideas. The RIP is a good opportunity to air new
developments or ideas, or perhaps to rehearse a presentation for
a forthcoming meeting (e.g. EGU, April 2010). The poster and
application are available here.
Please forward this message to interested staff and research
students in your department.
I'd also like to remind you that the Geochemistry group offers
bursaries to postgraduate researchers registered at UK
universities or research institutions to aid travel to a
geochemistry meeting either in the UK or internationally.
Recently, students have recieved travel grants to attend the
Goldschmidt conference and EGU, along with a number of smaller
meetings. Further information and the application form can be
