Research in Progress Meeting – 6th June 2018
This year’s Environmental Mineralogy Group Research in Progress meeting will be joint hosted with the Environmental Chemistry Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry at Burlington House, London on 6th June 2018.
The aim of this meeting is to explore how understanding the geochemistry and mineralogy of the natural environment can help us to predict the fate and behaviour of contaminants, and mitigate their impacts. We would like to invite abstracts on the geochemistry, mineralogy and microbiology of contaminants including metals, organic compounds and radioactive substances, as well as case studies of contaminated environments.
This will be the first joint meeting between the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Environmental Chemistry Group and the Mineralogical Society’s Environmental Mineralogy group. We particularly encourage early career researchers and students to submit abstracts on their research in progress, as well as those working in industry and dealing with contaminated environments. Our keynote speaker will be Professor Karen Hudson-Edwards (University of Exeter/Camborne School of Mines).
Abstract submission: 4th May 2018
Registration: 18th May 2018
Registration is free for presenting students and £10 for everyone else.
Student Travel Bursary: We also offer travel bursaries of up to £50 for each student presenting a talk and a prize of £50 for the best student poster.
