Distinguished Member

‘Distinguished Member’ of the Clay Minerals Group is awarded as a mark of esteem in recognizing outstanding individual achievements in clay research and in acknowledgement of exceptional service.

The Distinguished Member Award of the Clay Minerals Group has only been made twice since its inauguration: the first in November 1983, to R.C. Mackenzie of the then ‘Macaulay Institute’ in Aberdeen; and the second to Colin Farmer, also of the Macaulay Institute in Aberdeen (now known as the Hutton Institute) in 2003.
